Eligibility for University Admission
Eligibility for study admission is generally based on:
general result from High school,
study relevant result from High school or
certified eligibility of university entrance which is authenticated by a
legal authority or recognized by the Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt.
Master Study Programs
For admission in the Master's study program, a University
degree in a relevant field of study is mandatory (e.g. Diploma or Bachelor).
Entrance Examination for the Study Program Sport
For the study program Sports Science and for the Secondary
Physical Education programs in Vocational Education, Teaching at Vocational
Schools and Teaching at Secondary Schools, a mandatory participation in
examination is required.
At the University of Magdeburg, in almost all study programs,
internships are offered as part of the course program. The internships will be
managed by responsible person in the respective study program. Information can
be obtained from the Examination and Internship Offices as well as the Student
Advisor of the relevant faculties.
For study programs where the command of instruction is
English and for study program such as European Studies, Cultural Studies
(Program: Anglophone Cultural Studies), and Teacher Training for Vocational
Schools (Second Subject English), a proof of language skills is required.

In addition to the application forms, a tabular CV in
English language and "letter of motivation", where the applicant
explains about him/herself and reasons out his/her motivation to the study
program, should be submitted. Essay and CV together should not exceed more than
three A4 pages.

Approval Process for "Safety and Hazard Defence"
The study program "Safety and Hazard Defence"
(Bachelor) is a joint program of the University of Magdeburg and the University
of Stendal. In addition to school graduate certificate (general or technical),
for this field of study, participation in an approval process is required.
Applications for the approval process are sent directly to the University of
Magdeburg-Stendal until 30 April.
Following on time applications, the appropriate time and place of examination
will be communicated in time. The document of school graduation certificate
should be submitted.

Selection of recipients:
Ranking of applications by the faculties: January/February
Selection of recipients by the central commission for the awarding of
scholarships takes place in the middle of March/September
Scholarships are initially granted for two semesters.
Where study results remain good, it may be possible to continue the scholarship
within the standard course duration; this is fundamentally desirable. To this
end, study performance is monitored once a year.
The scholarship amounts to €300 per month. The
scholarship is granted irrespective of income and parental contributions and is
not offset against any BAföG payments.
The next application round is from 15. November to 15.
The application is only possible via an online-portal, that will be activated
on the 15. November.
Students who meet the following conditions are eligible for
enrolled on a first, second or complementary course of studies, on a
Master's degree programme or a part-time in-service / dual degree course,
who are enrolled at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg at the start of
the approval period and who,
into account the existing approval period in accordance with § 6 para. 1
line 3 of the German law governing scholarship schemes (StipG) are
enrolled at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg for at least two more
semesters within the standard course duration for a course (including
consecutive Master's degree).
As an applicant, you should stand out through your excellent
study achievements and special social commitment.

The internationally networked research foci of the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg lie in the neurosciences and the dynamic systems and find their roof structures in the science campus Center for Behavioral Brain Sciences and in the Center for Dynamic Systems. The focus of the Faculty of Medicine is on the fields of immunology and molecular medicine of inflammation and is bundled in the health scampus immunology, infectiology and inflammation. To be successful students need the right environment! Magdeburg Student Union offers various types of places in its halls of residence. There is a wide range of choices available, including single apartments, flat-shares, disability-friendly accommodation, and accommodation for families with children - either on campus or in the Campus House. The price for a place in the Campus House depends on the facilities and is between €140 and €270 incl. running costs and internet charges. Apartments in the renovated old building or rooms in halls of residence close to the campus are available at low cost, thus sparing the monthly budget. Cheap travel options for students include bicycles and the low-priced semester ticket.
