The Diploma course in Orthopedic Technology is intended to prepare students for careers in governments' public and private sectors, disciplined forces, research institution, community programmes industries, academic medical Institutions. Specifically they assess, design and fabricate and fit orthopedic appliances, use appliances to manage deformities and fracture and injuries to the soft tissues. They participate in action researches and community based rehabilitation programmes. The course was started in 1972 in Kabete to train orthopedic Technologist but was later transferred from there to the main campus at the Kenyatta national Hospital. This is the only place orthopedic Technologists are trained in Kenya.
